Maddison Rowland – Mount Ida
Mount Ida junior guard Maddison Rowland brings a physical edge and attacking mindset that sets the tone for the Lady Lions. The combo guard thrives both on the ball and off, able to initiate the offense or slide to the wing and hunt driving lanes. Her willingness to attack the rim puts constant pressure on defenses and opens opportunities for teammates.
Head coach Roy Ray values Rowland’s ability to impact the game on both ends and in multiple roles. “Maddison is a junior PG/SG combo who attacks the rim well and does a great job of setting her teammates up in the offense,” Ray said. “She’s a physical player on defense and loves to compete.”
That competitive fire shows up in the way Rowland defends. She uses her strength to body up ball-handlers, fight through screens and challenge every catch, giving Mount Ida a stopper on the perimeter. On offense, she reads help defenders well, knowing when to finish herself and when to kick out to shooters or drop off passes to bigs. Her versatility lets the Lady Lions adjust lineups without losing their identity, and her willingness to embrace tough assignments sets a standard for the rest of the roster. As Mount Ida looks to climb in the standings, Rowland’s all-around game and competitive spirit make her a central figure in those plans.
