Nikel Lewis – Hamburg
Hamburg’s offense in 2025 had a clear centerpiece, and everyone in the stadium knew who was getting the ball. Yet even with defenses loading the box and keying on him every week, running back Nikel Lewis turned the season into one of the greatest rushing performances Arkansas high school football has ever seen. His blend of vision, burst, and toughness made the Lions’ ground game almost impossible to contain.
Coach Blake Johnson captured it simply but powerfully when nominating him. “Broke the state record for rushing TDs with 53. 2800 yards rushing! Led state in all rushing categories!” Those numbers sound like something out of a video game but were built on a full fall of grinding between the tackles, bouncing runs outside, and finishing drives in the end zone. Week after week, Lewis delivered the same formula: heavy workload, explosive production, and touchdowns in bunches.
Beyond the headline stats, Lewis reshaped how opponents had to defend Hamburg. Safeties cheated closer to the line, linebackers flowed downhill in a hurry, and still he found ways to slip through creases and turn routine carries into back-breaking gains. His record-setting 53 rushing touchdowns did more than fill a stat sheet—they kept momentum on Hamburg’s sideline and set a new bar for future Lions backs. In a state rich with running back tradition, Nikel Lewis etched his name into history as the standard-bearer for rushing dominance.
