Deegan Todd – Charleston
Under the Friday night lights in Charleston, No. 25 meant more than a jersey number. For the Charleston Tigers, a proud 3A Region 1 program with a tradition of winning football, senior receiver and safety Deegan Todd was the steady presence who tied everything together on Friday nights. In a schedule packed with big games, his impact showed up in every phase of the game.
Statistically, Deegan was everywhere: he caught 27 passes for 643 yards and 9 touchdowns, made 34 total tackles with an interception on defense, and added 10 punt returns for 233 yards and 2 scores on special teams. His coach, Ricky May, summed up his value this way: “He is a great young man. He coached K-2nd flag football and made a difference in those kids. He has around a 4.0 GPA and is an extremely hard worker who was on our state weightlifting team last spring. He does everything for our team.”
Away from the scoreboard, Deegan’s influence started with the youngest Tigers. Trusted to coach K–2nd grade flag football, he spent afternoons teaching kids how to line up, catch, and compete while building their confidence and love for the game. Those same kids filled the stands on Friday nights, watching their mentor turn practice-field lessons into big-play moments under the lights.
For a program with high expectations every season, having a player like Deegan was invaluable. He gave Charleston versatility, leadership, and reliability, embodying exactly what his coach described: a true difference maker in the classroom, the community, and every snap of the game.
