Koa Rockwell is steadily carving out his role as a key contributor for Pulaski Academy, using a combination of work ethic, self-motivation, and a desire to improve to elevate his game. The junior guard has embraced growth this past season, stepping into a larger role while continuing to refine his skill set.
Rockwell’s development has been shaped by a mindset centered on accountability and progress. Each practice and game serves as another opportunity to get better, something he takes seriously as he works toward reaching his full potential.
“I’m motivated by wanting to prove myself and reach my full potential. I know I can always improve, and that drives me to keep working every day.”
This past season provided several key moments in Rockwell’s progression. Competing in high-level games and taking on increased responsibility allowed him to expand his understanding of the game while building confidence. He credits both positive performances and challenges as equally important in his growth.
“Some highlights were helping my team compete in big games, improving my overall game, and stepping into a bigger role. I also learned a lot from both good and bad performances, which helped me grow.”
Rockwell models parts of his game after NBA star Kevin Durant, particularly in how Durant uses his frame and scoring ability to create opportunities. With a similar slender build, Rockwell continues to develop ways to maximize his effectiveness on the court.
“One person I model my game after is Kevin Durant due to his scoring ability and how he uses his body, especially since I have a slim build.”
Off the court, Rockwell points to his father as his biggest influence, someone who has helped guide both his athletic and personal development.
“My dad is my biggest influence because he pushes me and keeps me accountable, while also being a great role model and teaching me decision making.”
For Rockwell, representing his school carries a deep sense of pride and responsibility, something that fuels his effort every time he competes.
“It means everything to me. I take pride in representing my school and my teammates every time I step on the court. I want to be someone people look up to on and off the court.”
