Fordyce’s Vincent Stroud – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Shelter Insurance

Fordyce High School senior Vincent Stroud has built a name for himself as one of the school’s most dynamic athletes,  a fierce competitor who dominates in football, basketball, and track. Whether lining up at defensive end or tight end, Stroud’s approach is simple: push harder, aim higher, and never settle for less than his best.

“What motivates me is wanting to be the best in everything I do,” Stroud said. That drive has fueled a standout career highlighted by 78 tackles and 13 sacks in a single season,  a testament to his work ethic and determination.

His inspiration comes from two sports legends: LeBron James and Ray Lewis. “LeBron always prepares himself to stay at the top and face adversity,” Stroud said. “And Ray Lewis, he always does what he says and leads the right way, but most importantly, he’s a dog.” That mindset shows every time Stroud steps on the field, where he plays with intensity, discipline, and a deep respect for the game.

Stroud credits his success not only to his athletic talent but also to his personal growth. “It’s taken hard work, dedication, and maturity to be successful,” he said. And through it all, he’s thankful for people like Mrs. William, his favorite teacher, who “always stays on me not to get behind and wants the best for me.”

One of his favorite parts of competition is going up against Rison, Fordyce’s biggest rival. “It’s a big rivalry game, and I enjoy beating them the most,” he said with a grin. He also enjoys competing against teammate Bryant Robison, who constantly pushes him to improve.

Representing Fordyce means everything to Stroud. “It’s a great experience to play for not just me but for the kids who want to be like me,” he said. “I’m grateful to step on the field, make exciting plays, and get the crowd fired up. I’ll miss every bit of it.”

Stroud also made sure to thank the people who’ve guided him along the way and helped shape him into the player and person he has become. Those people are Coach Rodgers, Coach Socia, Coach Sledge, Coach D, Coach Gamble, Coach Bobby, Coach Musgrove, Coach Lynn, and Coach Tidwell.
